NYX'S DANCE OF LIGHT
Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 at Sunset
taking place at
John Ceprano's rock sculptures on the Ottawa River

Nyx, the goddess of night, is dancing inspiration as Natasha Royka, Choreographer and Dancer, and PhOOM! (Potentially Haphazard Objects of Motion) weave together the worlds of candlelight and movement to honor the ancestors and transcend the thin veil between the past and present, night and day, death and life. Performed under the moon beside the Ottawa River's Remic Rapids, the beautiful setting of John Ceprano's rock sculptures partners the dance, creating images that will transport the viewer to another world.

ABOUT PhOOM!
From June until November, we work to bring inspiring dance out of the studio and into the world...
Exploring and experimenting with the concepts of nature, light and movement PhOOM! is a collective of dance artists working to transcend the boundaries of reality. Directed by dancer Natasha Royka and musician/dancer Andrea Loken, PhOOM! has been creating unique site specific dance works since 2006. Starting with Summer Solstice and the wonders of dancing candle light, PhOOM! has created Fairy Magic for the Ottawa Lumiere Festival - and Canada's Parliament Hill too:) - brought dance into the Herb Garden of Almonte, Ontario for Herb Fest and used classical inspiration to create a contemporary landscape dance at Ottawa sculptor John Ceprano's rock sculptures on the Ottawa river.
